Outcomes measurements and Brian Kay, PhD, vice president of Continuous Improvement, have both come a long way at Rogers Behavioral Health.
In the early 2000s, Dr. Kay was part of a team of interns that hand-entered outcome measures data into an Excel file in the basement of an old cottage. Through his hard work and dedication, he helped transform outcomes at Rogers and his own career. Dr. Kay would go from intern to residential counselor, behavior specialist, director of Clinical Effectiveness – and eventually the vice president of Continuous Improvement.
Many others like Dr. Kay have started out in entry level positions and were able to progress in their careers, becoming supervisors, managers, directors, and vice presidents. Dr. Kay says that Rogers allowed him the ability to forge his own path, which is something he still sees happening today.
“If you look at the people I get to work with on a daily basis, pretty much all of them rose the ranks from intake and admissions to residential counselors,” Dr. Kay says. “They’re expanding their skill sets in totally different wants. Rogers really does encourage people to grow in that sense.”
