Herrington-McBride Alumni Association

Life After Treatment

Herrington gave us a great start in sobriety. We’re here to help with the rest of the journey. The Herrington-McBride Alumni Association is a thriving community of people in recovery who are committed to helping their peers sustain recovery.

Support

Research has shown that one of the most important factors in sustaining recovery after treatment for alcoholism or drug dependency is a responsive support network.

Community

Members of the Herrington-McBride Alumni Association play an active role with individuals currently in treatment at Rogers' Herrington Center for Addiction Recovery.

Connections

Meetings and events are organized by alumni members and are intended to provide confirmation that life without addiction is not only a possibility, but is a choice that brings positive change.

Donate

100% of donations are used within the Alumni Association to assist those in recovery. We greatly appreciate your support!

The Herrington-McBride Alumni Association of Rogers Behavioral Health is here for you! Our Alumni group has been in existence for over 30 years, and we have almost 2,000 members from all over the country. Our mission as an alumni association is to support the residents of the Herrington Center for Addiction Recovery both while in treatment and as they transition to a recovery support network in their home community.

We have numerous events throughout the year for the current patients at Herrington including: An annual reunion picnic for all alumni and friends every summer on the third Saturday in June, Halloween party, New Year’s Eve celebration, winter retreat, quarterly pizza nights, and weekly alumni speakers. We also provide a quarterly newsletter and a website. Our Alumni also volunteer as sponsors for Herrington patients offering one-on-one support in recovery.

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that exists to serve and support each other. All that is needed to become a member is to sign-up with the Alumni Group. You will receive our quarterly newsletter with information and updates about what we are doing and how to stay connected. There is no cost or commitment required.

Research shows that staying connected and involved in a recovery network is a key predictor of sustained recovery. The first word in a 12-step recovery program is “we”.  We can do this together. We look forward to having you join us!

I have come to believe that my experience at HRC was exactly where I needed to be, when I needed to be there.  It gave me the chance to make my sobriety first priority in daily life and convinced me how crucial it would be, for my spiritual and physical health, to stay close to other people in recovery when back at home.

I am proud and grateful to be part of this wonderful group that calls itself the Herringtom-McBride Alumni Association.

I am blessed that my path in sobriety led me to the Herrington Recovery Center at Rogers Memorial Hospital. The treatment I received was truly outstanding.

The  Herrington McBride Alumni Association has afforded me a network of support with numerous opportunitites to serve, which helps me in my recovery. The friendships I have made on this journey will remain with me for a lifetime.

Thanks to recovery I have new  life filled with a deeper trust in God and  friends, especially one who calls me on my sobriety birthday every year.

Recovery has not given me my life back, it’s given me a beautiful life! I have learned to let go of past resentments, traumas, and pain and I’ve found joy! I learned the importance of building a recovery network and becoming a part of the recovery community. I have such gratitude for my opportunity for treatment and and try to work a recovery program in some way daily.

With gratitude,
Jenny

When I entered the doors of Herrington Recovery Center back in the fall of 2006, I did not know what to expect. I didn’t know what the future looked like at all… All I knew is that I was at the end on my rope and life on Scott’s terms was NOT WORKING. I wasn’t the father, husband, friend, son, employee, person that I wanted to be. Herrington laid the foundation and showed me the way to a better life based on the foundation of the 12 steps. Herrington yanked me out of my “comfort zone” and taught me how to feel, how to be honest, how to be vulnerable and accept help, and how to think of others first before myself. Quite literally Herrington saved my life and set me on the path with the right tools for long-term physical and emotional sobriety. I have a life today that I did not think was possible 13 years ago and I am eternally grateful to Herrington for getting me started on the “road to happy destiny.”

My time spent at the Herrington Recovery Center has proved to be invaluable!  My life has been restored and I have been given the tools for the continuum.  Recovery is a journey that includes a lot of hard work.  HRC provided the solid foundation for me to keep the disease of addiction under arrest and the where withal to provide the action to do so.

Simple put, the Herrington Recovery Center showed me how to save my life. For that I will be eternally grateful.

Recovery is hard work, but worth every minute!  The Herrington Recovery Center truly saved my life. I am now able to be more of the wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend that God wants me to be.  I have a network of friends and support that are deeper and more meaningful than I could have imagined.

Herrington gave me a safe place to land while I began to wrap my head around the reality that my way of doing things no longer worked. Herrington gave me the coping skills to begin building a solid foundation in recovery and taught me to ask for and accept help. The Alumni Association has helped me to remain connected to Herrington and the local recovery community, supporting my own recovery and providing me with an opportunity to give back to others just beginning their journey. I would not be alive if Herrington had not helped me to get clean and find a new way to live!

If I had gone home from Herrington to my apartment on my own I never would have made it. My support system is a key part of my sobriety.  Every day I count on my sober friends, meetings and sponsor. My life has changed in ways that are beyond my belief. I have faith in the future and I’m no longer ashamed of my past. I’m so grateful for the chance to live free from my obsession with alcohol.

When I came in I had given up on life.  I did not believe sobriety was possible for me. Herrington introduced me to AA which has taught me how to not only stay sober, but to handle life and enjoy life one day at a time. It was challenging in the beginning but I know if I continue to work the program on a daily basis, I will stay sober. I am forever grateful for my time at Herrington.

Jeff R.

I came to AA to save my professional license. What I saved was my life.
