At a basic level, eating disorders can be difficult to describe. There are several types, and they can look a little different. They can look like someone eating too little, too much, not having enough variety, or eating erratically.
“At their core, eating disorders are disrupted patterns of eating behaviors that lead to significant emotional distress, negatively impact physical health, or interfere in daily life,” says Nicole Stettler, PhD, psychologist, executive clinical director of Rogers' Eating Disorder Services.
