Rising Above OCD | Jana's Story

Jana’s struggles with contamination OCD and depression led her to seek treatment with Rogers Behavioral Health. “It’s like you’re wearing goggles and I can see what’s contaminated,” says Jana. “I remember thinking, ‘Why am I the only one who sees this?’”

Jana says going to a treatment center was a big step for her, but in addition to learning coping skills, she was meeting people who shared similar struggles so she didn’t feel alone. “There are things I didn’t want to learn that I am so thankful that I have now because it comes to my mind if I have a thought that something is contaminated and I shouldn’t touch it or that I need to do something a certain number of times.”

Jana is an active with the Miss America organization and uses her platform to spread hope and break stigma.
