Recognizing Teen Depression

It can be difficult to tell the difference between normal teenage behavior and a mental health challenge like depression or anxiety.

“Teens can be moody and irritable,” says Peggy Scallon, MD, DFAPA, DFAACAP, psychiatrist, medical director, Focus Depression Recovery Adolescent Residential Care at Rogers Behavioral Health. “When kids are no longer functioning, it’s time to get help.”
