PTSD: The five symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder

“There are five symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder,” says Chad Wetterneck, PhD, psychologist, and clinical director of Rogers Behavioral Health’s Trauma Recovery Services.. They are:

  1. Experiencing a trauma
  2. Re-experiencing a trauma
  3. Avoidance of potential triggers
  4. Changes in thoughts
  5. Changes in how the body responds to anxiety
