Rogers Behavioral Health breaks ground on new Brown Deer residential care center

BROWN DEER, WI (June 8, 2021) — Rogers Behavioral Health broke ground today on a residential care center in Brown Deer scheduled to open by summer 2022. The ceremony was attended by Rogers clinicians and leadership, village officials and representatives from Moore Construction Services and Quorum Architects.

Connected to Rogers’ inpatient care facility located at 4600 W. Schroeder Drive, the two-story, 24,000-square-foot addition will accommodate 32 beds with separate space for adults and adolescents. Patients will receive specialized treatment services for depression, trauma, bipolar and other mood disorders, and substance use disorder with co-occurring mental health issues.

“We know that more people than ever are seeking mental health treatment, and there has been a gap in available resources,” said Derrick Jordan, vice president of operations in Brown Deer. “We are honored to be able to expand access and provide them with access to high-quality, specialized, intensive psychiatric treatment.”

This is the first time residential treatment will be offered in Brown Deer, where inpatient and outpatient mental health and addiction care are currently provided. Along with Oconomowoc and West Allis, Brown Deer will be the third Rogers location to serve residential patients.

“This is an exciting new endeavor and opportunity to respond to the need of the community at large,” said Roger Luhn, MD, medical director of Rogers in Brown Deer. “With this expansion of services, patients will be able to complete our recommended, evidence-based clinical pathway to long-term recovery, with an additional option close to home.”

In residential care, patients reside and receive treatment on campus, where they can have more time and resources to begin the recovery process from traumatic events and complicated life circumstances. Patients stay in a comfortable, home-like setting with a dining area, group rooms, semi-private bedrooms, recreation space, and activity rooms.

The new facility will be built by Moore Construction Services in Menomonee Falls. Milwaukee-based Quorum Architects and Brookfield-based Trio Engineering are also affiliated with the project.

In addition to the residential expansion into Brown Deer, Rogers is growing across the state and country. This summer, an outpatient clinic and supportive living facility in Sheboygan will open, as will the Ladish Co. Foundation Center in Oconomowoc.
