Returning to treatment for addiction: What you need to know

If someone’s cancer returns once their care is finished, they aren’t embarrassed or told they did something wrong. The same needs to be true for people struggling with addiction who return to treatment.
Recovery from dependence on alcohol or substances is a process. If a person returns to Rogers for additional support, they’ll work closely with their treatment team to find a path forward.
"They aren't a failure, and it's not shameful," says Michelle Maloney, PhD, LPC, CAADC, CRPS, system executive clinical director of Addiction Services. "It means something is not going well for that individual. They need to do something different, and treatment needs to change."
