Tarik Hadzic, MD, PhD

Associate Medical Director, Psychiatrist

Tarik Hadzic, MD, PhD, is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in adult and child and adolescent psychiatry, and he works with patients at Rogers in Los Angeles. Additionally, he is associate medical director, attending to patient care in PHP and IOP programs and assisting in leadership and supervisory support at Rogers' locations in California, Colorado, and Illinois.

Dr. Hadzic has worked in multiple settings, including inpatient and emergency psychiatry, partial hospitalization, and outpatient settings. He has a special clinical interest in severe obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), autism spectrum disorders, rare genetic syndromes, eating disorders, and severe psychotic illness.

Dr. Hadzic completed undergraduate studies at the University of Connecticut, earning University Scholar, the highest honor bestowed on undergraduates, as well as summa cum laude. He was also a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Dr. Hadzic obtained a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cell Biology, and a Bachelor of Arts in German Literature, spending a semester at the University of Heidelberg.

After undergraduate studies, Dr. Hadzic enrolled in the combined MD / PhD Medical Scientist Training Program at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He completed a doctoral dissertation (PhD) focusing on the transcriptional regulation of neuroendocrine secretion in the Drosophila brain. After earning an MD and a PhD, Dr. Hadzic completed a residency in psychiatry at Washington University / Barnes-Jewish Hospital / St. Louis Children’s Hospital, during which he studied human structural variation for a research project. After residency, he completed a research track Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior / Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Los Angeles, CA. During fellowship, he studied the role of chromatin conformation and structural variation in autism spectrum disorder using high throughput genomics techniques. While at UCLA, he became interested in OCD and OCD spectrum disorders and decided to pursue his passion in clinical medicine at Rogers.

Dr. Hadzic is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Southern California Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the American Psychiatric Association.
