Patrick Michaels, PhD

Regional Clinical Director, Psychologist

Patrick Michaels, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist based at Rogers’ Nashville location who serves as a regional clinical director for Rogers Behavioral Health. In his current role he trains, coaches, and develops leaders and staff at Rogers’ clinics throughout the system to deliver evidence-based treatments. Prior to his current role, Dr. Michaels was the clinical director at Rogers Behavioral Health in Nashville, providing supervision of partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs for adult and adolescent patients with depression, addiction, OCD, and eating disorders.

Dr. Michaels received his graduate and doctoral degrees at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, followed by a doctoral clinical psychology internship and post-doctoral residency at the Louis Stokes Cleveland Department of Veterans Administration Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to joining Rogers, Dr. Michaels was program manager for Mental Health Intensive Case Management and Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Center at the Tennessee Valley Health System Department of Veterans Affairs in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Dr. Michaels has specialized in providing recovery-oriented services for people with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. His research interests include mental illness stigma, psychiatric rehabilitation, and community inclusion. Dr. Michaels assisted in the development of Rogers Behavioral Health's Serious and Persistent Mental Illness program to increase access to outpatient care for people with psychosis in Wisconsin. He has published two book chapters, five first author publications, and co-authored sixteen publications. He is a member of the American Psychological Association.
