Rising Above Mood Disorders | Kendra's Story

Kendra recalls fearing rejection from others growing up, while at the same time, she was rejecting herself. After driving her car into trees, her family knew she needed help for her depression and anxiety. At 17, Kendra made the trek with her family from Canada to receive care at the Nashotah Center for DBT Adolescent Residential Care in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Kendra is thankful for the evidence-based therapy she received. "The support helped me open up and actually start talking about the things I didn't know I felt before I was there," Kendra says. "I don’t think I would have gotten to this point in my life had it not been for Rogers.” With a bachelor in social work, Kendra is now planning on using her experience to help others.
