The holidays are often a difficult time for many people, and especially in light of the challenges of 2020, were especially tough for those spending the season in treatment for mental health and addiction.
To ease the difficulties for our patients, the Rogers Behavioral Health Foundation once again collected donations for gifts. During the 2020 holiday season, more than 20 organizations stepped up to help us spread festive cheer.
As in years past, companies and individuals held gift drives and collected donations to provide gifts to those in treatment over the holidays. From a local school to area retail stores, organizations throughout the community gave generously to ensure a joyous holiday season for as many patients as possible.
In total, the Foundation was able to provide gifts for more than 50 Rogers programs including more than 750 patients in 2020 – ranging from gift cards to favorite shopping destinations to fun games, cozy blankets and socks, and coloring books to encourage mindfulness.

Rogers employees who watched patients open the gifts were thrilled to see how much patients appreciated each present.
"The room was loud with excitement," commented one member of the treatment team. "They were naming their stuffed animals and excited to play the board games with their families. Some of the kids loved their stuffed animals so much that they wanted to bring them along to have snack together."
Another Rogers employee reflected on how heartwarming it was to see patients enjoying the holidays with the help of the Foundation.
"Hearing patients say that this was the best Christmas ever and that they were grateful to be in a place like this surrounded by people who genuinely care was heartwarming and humbling at the same time. I'm so happy Rogers makes it possible for us to provide patients with something to open up on Christmas!"
Though the holiday season has passed, the Foundation accepts donations year-round to support patients at Rogers, reduce stigma around mental health and addiction, and fund research. Learn more about how you can make a difference at rogersbhfoundation.org.
