Rising Above Addiction: Adrienne's Story

Growing up in a Chicago suburb, Adrienne was close with her tight-knit family, did well in school, and was a member of the pompom squad. At 14, she also tried alcohol for the first time. By college Adrienne was drinking alcohol excessively and now using a wide variety of recreational drugs. For years, she was able to mask her addictions and still function in society, but years later as her marriage was collapsing and while raising her two young sons, Adrienne's alcoholism had taken over her life and she began to have suicidal thoughts. After several failed attempts at treatment, Adrienne eventually found her way to the Herrington Center for Addiction Recovery Residential Care at Rogers Behavioral Health, and has now been sober for six years and counting.
