June is Men’s Health Month, a time when men are encouraged to take better care of themselves, both physically and mentally.
Cody says that although he had a happy and carefree childhood, when he was in his 20s, he struggled with persistent, unwanted thoughts, and suicidal ideation.
Cody describes himself as a happy child growing up, but during high school he experienced bullying due to his sexuality and being openly gay.
Although it has become trendy to say, “I’m OCD” when describing yourself as being organized or precise, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a serious mental health disorder.
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental health disorder in which people struggle with obsessions and compulsions. Kathryn says the treatment and support she received at Rogers for OCD and anxiety changed her life.
Carter began showing symptoms of OCD in the first grade, and those symptoms eventually progressed over time to become debilitating.
In Angelina’s story, she discusses the identity-affirming care she received at Rogers for OCD and Somatic Symptom Disorder.
“Scrupulosity is a type of OCD in which someone becomes mentally and emotionally consumed by matters of religious practice and/or morality." Dr. Brenda Bailey explains scrupulosity and the signs that someone could be suffering from the disorder.
