Rogers expedites life-saving treatment for opioid use disorders with same day buprenorphine prescriptions

The image features a young adult standing against a vibrant turquoise brick wall. He is dressed in a black jacket over a white shirt, with his hands casually placed in his jacket pockets. The background is a consistent shade of turquoise, providing a clean and bold contrast to his dark attire. The left side of the image contains text in white, prominently displayed in the upper portion of the wall. Transcribed Text: Hope, Dignity, and Support for Opioid Use Disorder

Opioid addiction can affect anyone regardless of age or background. It can begin with a prescription to treat pain or a moment of experimentation.

Asking for help with opioid use can be one of the hardest and bravest steps a person can take.

Same-day access to treatment through telehealth now available

A multimillion-dollar grant from the State of Wisconsin is supporting the launch of a telehealth program called WORTH IT—the Wisconsin Opioid Recovery Telehealth Immediate Treatment program.

Rogers’ Wisconsin-based telehealth program will make buprenorphine prescriptions available to people with opioid use disorder on the same or next business day they establish contact via telephone. Buprenorphine is FDA-approved for the treatment of opioid use disorder and is considered a gold standard treatment. It helps to reduce cravings for opioids, reduces withdrawal symptoms, and is associated with a reduction in overdose deaths among people who struggle with nonmedical use of opioids.

Our goal is simple. We want to meet people where they are with life-saving treatment and support them with compassion, dignity, and hope.

Who is eligible for the program?

WORTH IT is for anyone 16 and older living with an opioid use disorder and residing in Wisconsin, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.

Our commitment is to provide care that is respectful, culturally competent, and judgment-free.

Where is the program available?

The WORTH IT program is being piloted in Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and Dane counties before being rolled out to the rest of the state on October 1, 2025.

What makes this program different?

We are a low-barrier program, which means we’ve removed many of the common obstacles or barriers that can get in the way of starting treatment:

  • No need to stop using.  A person doesn’t need to be abstinent to get help.
  • No required drug tests. No need to “prove” the need for care.
  • No mandatory therapy. Therapy and support are available and recommended, but only when a person is ready.
  • No need to leave home to receive treatment. We deliver treatment via telehealth.
  • No waiting. A person can speak with a prescriber via telehealth and receive a prescription for buprenorphine the same or next day.
  • No need for insurance to begin treatment. We can help people obtain insurance.
  • Flexible hours. We’re open 8:30 am – 8:30 pm.

What support is offered beyond medication?

We offer and recommend optional services which include:

  • Individual therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Family sessions
  • Case management to help with insurance, housing, food, and other needs
  • Referrals for OB/GYN care for pregnant and postpartum patients
  • Ongoing medication management and recovery support
  • Harm reduction education and resources

What about support for family and loved ones?

We understand substance use affects the entire family. The following support is available to friends and loved ones.

  • Family and Friends University – a free educational program (online or in person) for those who care about someone with substance use challenges.
  • SOAR – an age-appropriate program for kids ages 6-15 who have a family member with substance use challenges.
  • Stigma reduction programs – virtual workshops to help reduce shame and encourage understanding.
