Throughout the year, students from various disciplines and levels of training gain valuable experience toward their degree or program requirements. Working alongside Rogers’ clinical staff, students learn and apply techniques that encompass the gold standard care offered by a private, independent, national leader in specialty behavioral healthcare.

Psychology Training
Rogers Behavioral Health is well respected within the mental health and addiction field for its understanding and application of evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Cognitive behavioral therapy and developmental psychology form the theoretical backbone of Rogers’ approach to training psychology students. The opportunity to get involved in research may also be available.
Clinical Psychology Doctoral Internship Program
This program includes five tracks:
- Adolescent Inpatient Care – #215111
- Adult OCD and Anxiety Disorders Residential Care – #215112
- Adult Inpatient Care – #215113
- Adult Eating Disorder Recovery Residential Care – #215115
- Adolescent Depression Recovery Residential Care – 215116
During the year-long program, interns will work with Rogers Behavioral Health staff in providing treatment services to adolescent and adult patients in a variety of clinical settings. The goal of these experiences will be for interns to develop the skills and confidence needed to begin their career as a practicing clinical psychologist. Potential interns are encouraged to review the brochure and handbook to learn more about the program.

Rogers is an APPIC member. This internship site agrees to abide by the APPIC policy that no person at this training facility will solicit, accept, or use any ranking-related information from any intern applicant.
Accreditation
The internship is a member in good standing of the Association of Psychology Post-doctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC). The internship is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) as of 2014. The reaccreditation site visit occurred on July 26 and 27, 2023, and Rogers Behavioral Health’s accreditation is reaffirmed through 2033.

Graduate-Level Psychology Practicum Experiences
Rogers serves as a clinical training site for graduate-level students from many schools of psychology. Depending on the placement, you will apply the fundamentals of treatment for children, adolescents, and adults who present with a wide spectrum of disorders.
Practicum experiences may be available in inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient care settings at select locations across the country. For more information, please contact the Campus Relations Team at campusrelations@rogersbh.org.
Social Work and Counseling Training
Rogers has contracts with schools across the country to provide training for graduate-level social work and counseling students. Please contact the Campus Relations Team at campusrelations@rogersbh.org to see if your school has a current agreement in place.
Placements are available at the inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient levels of care. You will gain experience in running group-based programs, conducting bio-psycho-social risk assessments, and facilitating individual and family support sessions. These can vary depending on the diagnostic and developmental needs of children, adolescents, and adults.
Nursing Training
Rogers has contracts with schools across the country to provide nursing training for registered nurses and psychiatric mental health practitioners. Contact your nursing program for more information.
Rogers Behavioral Health locations in Wisconsin serve as the training site for more than 200 nursing students drawn from some of the most prominent nursing schools in the Midwest. In addition to guidance from on-site supervisors appointed by the nursing programs, you benefit from interaction with the expert psychiatric nurses at Rogers, who are part of a multidisciplinary team with a singular focus on mental health and addiction.

- Summer requests (for experiences occurring between May and August) must be submitted by January 1

Experiential Therapy Training
Rogers offers placements in recreation and art therapy at our Oconomowoc and West Allis locations in Wisconsin. Our experiential therapists are dedicated, qualified, and knowledgeable in providing a wide variety of expressive therapies that enhance patient outcomes. You will benefit from a diverse, meaningful, and individualized training experience within a behavioral health environment.

Our continuing education programs combine research findings and practical clinical applications with a focus on improving patient care.
