Christina grew up in a loving family with close friends. After the birth of her daughter, she was prescribed pain medication, which began an escalating struggle with substance use and addiction.

“It was years of an out of control, chaotic, and destructive heroin addiction,” says Christina.

She says the worst day of her life was losing custody of her daughter to her parents.

“I had to watch them drive away,” she says. “I found myself exhausted mentally, emotionally, and physically.”

Finding an addiction treatment center

Christina decided to pursue long-term recovery and started mental health and addiction residential treatment at Rogers in West Allis.

“In a few short months, the things that you can start gaining back in your life are incredible,” she says.
