After experiencing trauma – an individual’s response to witnessing a frightening event – a person may develop posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

As a child, Stephanie, recalls that talking about mental health was discouraged. Then when she began to struggle with her own mental health and sought treatment at Rogers, she realized how deeply that stigma was embedded in her.

The supportive living space in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, can house 12 people who are currently receiving mental health or addiction treatment in an intensive outpatient or partial hospitalization program. It will allow people to focus on their recovery journey and practice self-care such as hygiene, life, or vocational skills to help them transition into the next stage of their recovery.

Oftentimes assumed to be big city issues, a recent report is shedding light on the impact of mental health and addiction in rural communities.

Jane developed an eating disorder as a way to cope with her depression and anxiety. Through treatment at Rogers she was able to gain the tools needed to get her life back.
