Shannon says her struggle with perfectionism began in high school while playing softball. Over time, that need for control turned into an eating disorder.
“I got compliments when I started losing weight,” Shannon recalls. “I thought when I got to a certain point I would stop.”
Concerned, Shannon’s mom found Rogers, where she received residential eating disorder treatment.
“It was the first time I met people who understood what I was going through,” she says. “It was helpful to know I wasn’t the only person experiencing this.”
Shannon remained in recovery for several years until wedding dress shopping triggered a relapse.
She returned to Rogers for treatment and wants to share her story to inspire others to get the help they need.
“It’s not too late to have the life you want.”
