Since its opening in the summer of 2021, the Ronald McDonald House Charities Family Room© has provided a comfortable, relaxing space for families supporting loved ones in treatment on Rogers' Oconomowoc campus. As this new facility continues to serve a crucial role in fostering family support during treatment, today's blog answers some of the most frequently asked questions about the Family Room.

Where is the Family Room?

The Family Room is located inside the Ladish Co. Foundation Center on Rogers' main campus in Oconomowoc at 34700 Valley Road, just west of the hospital buildings.

When is the Family Room open?

The Family Room is open seven days a week from 9 am to 5 pm.

Who can use the Family Room?

The Family Room is open to loved ones of current Rogers patients. Other facilities located within the Ladish Center, such as the conference hall and community rooms, may be used for events open to the public such as support groups, lectures, and summits.

What activities are available in the Family Room?

The Family Room is a restful environment filled with many of the comforts of home. This includes a kitchen and dining area for meals and snacks, laundry facilities, and a private shower suite. Those looking for entertainment during downtime can choose from a wide selection of board games, toys, video games, and the endless possibilities of a creativity room stocked with arts and crafts supplies. There is also an outdoor patio and garden space to help connect with nature. Learn more about the amenities available in the Family Room.  

Does the Family Room provide lodging for families?

Overnight accommodations are not available at the Family Room. However, eligible families are able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House in Wauwatosa, a 30-minute drive from Rogers' Oconomowoc campus.

If your household is not eligible to stay at Ronald McDonald House, Rogers has a list of hotels near each of our locations to help you find a place to stay.

Is there a cost to using the Family Room amenities?

No, all amenities in the Family Room are free of cost.

Is treatment provided in the Family Room?

The Family Room is intended to be a peaceful refuge from the stresses of treatment; therefore; no treatment is provided in this space.

Can I volunteer at the Family Room?

Absolutely! Volunteers play a very important role in the Family Room as they are responsible for greeting and checking families in and ensuring that all areas of the space are well-stocked and ready for use.
