For many people, symptoms begin almost immediately after the trauma happens. For others, they may not become a problem until years later. “There are five symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder,” says Chad Wetterneck, PhD, psychologist, and clinical director of Rogers Behavioral Health’s Trauma Recovery Services. They are:- Experiencing a trauma
- Re-experiencing a trauma
- Avoiding potential triggers
- Changes in thoughts
- Changes in how the body responds to anxiety
