Age-specific mental health program includes inpatient and outpatient services designed for adults 55 and older
OCONOMOWOC, Wis., May 27, 2026 – Rogers Behavioral Health is launching Lifewell, a new mental health program for adults 55 and older at its Brown Deer, Wisconsin campus, expanding access to age-specific care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
Opening June 1, 2026, a 15-bed inpatient program will provide short-term, stabilizing support for adults experiencing acute mental health symptoms, helping patients improve emotional wellness and rediscover a sense of purpose. Beginning July 1, Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) services will expand care options, providing treatment on-site while patients live at home.
This programming meets a clear demand. About one in five older adults are living with a mental health condition such as depression or anxiety, yet more than half do not receive the care they need. About one-third of adults ages 65 to 80 report feeling lonely at least some of the time, a factor that can negatively impact mental health and underscores the importance of connection in care. In 2025 alone, Rogers’ therapists treated 288 patients aged 55 and older at the Brown Deer campus.
Lifewell was developed in response to patient feedback and the growing need for age-aligned care. Designed for individuals who are functionally independent and able to actively engage in treatment, the program emphasizes connection, engagement, and resilience through compassionate, evidence-based care delivered alongside peers in a similar life stage.
“At Rogers, we know that through our lifetime we experience both mind and body changes, which can result in challenges in our day-to-day functioning,” says Cindy Meyer, president and CEO of Rogers. “Lifewell is a part of Rogers’ commitment to deliver compassionate, personalized care in a place where individuals can connect with people in similar life stages and find meaning, purpose, and healing that encompasses both our physical and mental health.”
Lifewell includes a customized, skills-based group designed specifically for older adults, reflecting their unique experiences, challenges, and goals. Topics include understanding grief and loss, navigating technology, finding meaning and purpose, healthy living, and strengthening social connections.
“Creating a program specifically for adults 55 and older allows us to better align care with patients’ lived experiences and needs,” says Adrianne McCullars, PhD, vice president of Clinical Services. “Lifewell is designed to foster stronger connection and engagement by bringing people together in a similar life stage, while addressing the unique challenges and goals that come with it.”
