‘I finally found hope’: Former residential OCD patient finds a path forward

It’s not uncommon for someone suffering from OCD to suffer for many years before seeking treatment.

Recently, a former adolescent patient at the OCD and Anxiety Center in Oconomowoc reached out to share how the treatment he received helped him regain hope.

“Getting residential care at Rogers for my severe OCD saved my life. My OCD gradually worsened as I grew older, and I grew hopeless as I was admitted into OAC. I dedicated myself to treatment, and I finally found hope in a new life. During my journey, a peer provided me with encouragement, advice, and inspiration and it greatly aided my treatment.”  Former adolescent patient, OCD and Anxiety Center, Oconomowoc

“[He] made excellent progress during his stay and epitomizes results we can see when adolescents embrace what the program has to offer. It is incredibly meaningful that patients and their families take the time to share how residential treatment has given them a renewed sense of hope. To hear that adolescents feel inspired by their recoveries to make a difference in others’ lives is encouraging. Our patients continually inspire the treatment team with their resilience and often demonstrate strong leadership skills as their symptoms improve.”  ~ Dr. Andrew Butchart, DO, medical director, Child and Adolescent Residential Care, Oconomowoc
