Abdul Mateen Khazi, MD, MRCPsych, FAPA
Senior Medical Director of Southeast Wisconsin Outpatient Services, Psychiatrist
Abdul Mateen Khazi, MD, MRCPsych, FAPA, is a board-certified adult psychiatrist with subspecialty in Addiction Medicine. In his role as Senior Medical Director of Southeast Wisconsin Outpatient Services, Dr. Khazi provides direct patient care as well as oversight and medical leadership of the partial hospital, intensive outpatient, and outpatient services at Rogers Behavioral Health’s three southeastern Wisconsin hospital campuses.
Dr. Khazi earned his medical degree at Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences in India. He completed two psychiatry residency programs, one at East Riding Yorkshire and North Wales Rotational Scheme in Psychiatry in the United Kingdom and one at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He has been honored several times for his excellence in teaching and training medical students and psychiatry residents.
Dr. Khazi holds academic appointments of Clinical Associate Professor at UW School of Medicine & Public Health and Clinical Assistant Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin. His primary area of interest is working to address acute, challenging with complex mental health concerns, particularly with people with severe and persistent mental illness. His dedication to the field of psychiatry is highlighted also by his designation as Fellow in the American Psychiatric Association and his membership in the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Prior to joining Rogers, Dr Khazi was an Attending Psychiatrist at Aurora Psychiatric Hospital, where he also served as Medical Director. Dr. Khazi has held numerous medical leadership positions at Advocate Health, Aurora UW Academic Medical Group at Aurora Psychiatric Hospital including President/Chief of Staff for the Medical Staff Organization and Psychiatry Clerkship Director for the Aurora UW Medical Group. Dr. Khazi’s earlier practice was at Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Division, where he was Medical Director for the Acute Care Services.
Dr. Khazi is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Psychiatric Association, (APA), Wisconsin Psychiatric Association, Wisconsin Medical Society, Royal College of Psychiatrists, London, United Kingdom, and the American Association of physicians of Indian origin.
