‘She saved my life’: Philadelphia therapist becomes Rogers’ newest TULIP Award winner

In February, Rogers celebrated our most recent winner of the TULIP Award, which recognizes individuals who make a distinct difference for our patients and their loved ones.

TULIP stands for Thoughtful, Unforgettable, Lasting Impact on a Patient. While the DAISY Award honors nurses, the TULIP Award gives us the chance to celebrate the many other compassionate and skilled clinical roles at the heart of our treatment.

The first presentation of this year recognized winner Macy Anderson, a therapist at the Philadelphia clinic. Macy was nominated by a former patient who said they will be grateful to her for the rest of their life. She also received a nomination from a colleague.

“Macy has a natural talent for this work,” the patient wrote. “She cares deeply about her patients, and she shows it while maintaining clear boundaries and using words and her presence to support, encourage, evaluate and coach them. Her compassion, clarity of communication and strength of purpose shined brightly from the first moment I spoke with her. I have never been so well served by a therapist.”

“Macy stands out as a truly exceptional therapist, combining natural clinical insight with a deep ability to understand and connect with her patients,” a colleague wrote. “Her energy, dedication, and genuine enthusiasm for learning inspire those around her. Macy’s patients thrive under her care, which is a testament to her skill and the warmth she brings to the therapeutic process. She is destined to do beautiful things in her career, and it has been a true pleasure to watch her begin that journey here at Rogers.”

Ashley Borowski, an experiential therapist in Oconomowoc, received an honorable mention after being nominated by a former patient.

“Ashley’s commitment went far beyond organizing engaging activities; she consistently created a therapeutic environment that inspired joy, comfort, motivation, and hope,” the patient wrote. “What stands out most to me is Ashley’s unwavering dedication to each resident. She has an incredible ability to connect with people. I am confident that her continued work will positively impact countless residents and uphold the highest standards of therapeutic care.”

Jill Beaty, a clinical reviewer, also received an honorable mention after being nominated by coworkers.

“Jill always has the patient and their family at the core of everything she does,” a coworker said. “She advocates and thinks outside of the box to ensure patients have access to deserved care. Thank you, Jill, for touching the hearts and lives of so many patients, community members, and staff lives.”

“Every once in a while, an organization has an employee that makes systems run more smoothly, is dedicated to their work, and goes above and beyond to assure that a job is well done every time,” another coworker said. “Jill Beaty is that person. She will do anything to serve the patients in our community.”

“Jill continues to go above and beyond for everything, especially our patients,” said a third coworker. “She meets the patients where they are at and does everything she can to serve community needs. We cannot thank Jill enough for all she does to support the patients, families, and all the staff here at Rogers.”
