‘I am deeply grateful’: Former patient shares how she continues to heal

The care and encouragement patients receive at Rogers propels them to keep making progress in their recovery long after they leave.

Recently, Nicolette reached out to share an update two years after receiving inpatient treatment in Oconomowoc.

“Dear Rogers Team,

I wanted to take a moment to share a success story with you. Just over two years ago, I admitted myself into your detox program for four days and three nights. At the time, I was encouraged to continue with the 30-day inpatient program and was cautioned that many relapse without it.

Today, I am proud to say I have reached two years of sobriety. Two months after leaving detox, I enrolled in a master’s program in IT at Colorado Technical University. I graduated in June 2025—my third college degree. Alongside my academic journey, I have also begun my trauma healing work. Through creativity, I now run a public YouTube channel and a growing social platform where I share my story. In addition, I am close to completing the first draft of my memoir.

Most importantly, I did not return to my abusive ex-husband—the relationship that was the catalyst for my addiction to alcohol.

I know the odds were not in my favor, but the foundation I built during my time at Rogers gave me the strength to continue on this path. I am deeply grateful for the care, guidance, and support your staff provided during those critical days.

Thank you for the work you do—it truly changes lives. And thank you to me for believing in my own strength and persevering.

With gratitude,

Nicolette”

“Shout out to the inpatient Oconomowoc team for the impact they make on our patients’ recovery journeys everyday by providing life-saving treatment!” says Sarah Conner, LPC, CSAC, ICS, inpatient SUD clinical supervisor, Oconomowoc. “The success story is just a small testimonial of the positive influence they have on our patients’ lives and the difference that they make. I’m so proud of this team and the hard work and dedication they bring to Rogers every day!”
