Get to know Rogers’ seven new interns!

As soon as one Rogers intern cohort graduates, a new begins! Meet the newest group of Rogers’ interns and get to know their unique backgrounds and interests:

Morgan Buerke

Morgan Buerke: From Berwyn in neighboring Illinois, Morgan comes to Rogers excited to get supervision from the psychology team on Adult Inpatient. Morgan’s psychology interests include better understanding risk factors for suicide and how thoughts and feelings impact self-harm behaviors. She hopes to one day work in academia.

Maddy Gerson

Maddy Gerson: From Mountain View, California, Maddy is interested in working with children and families, focusing on childhood trauma and youth substance use prevention and intervention. On the FOCUS residential track, she is excited to work with the interdisciplinary teams at Rogers, taking a holistic approach to care. Maddy is also looking forward to giving back to the community through the interns’ capstone project. One day, Maddy plans to work with children and families and in community mental health and integrated healthcare settings

Eve Galloway

Eve Galloway: Eve Galloway grew up in Ottawa, Canada and is excited to join Rogers’ OCD track to work in interdisciplinary teams and learn more about working in the field. A high school course in psychology is part of what spurred her interest in this work, particularly anxiety- and OCD-related disorders. After this internship, Eve hopes to continue working with clients one-on-one, also interested in community mental health, outreach opportunities, and public education.

Marcus Joyner

Marcus Joyner: Marcus comes from South Hampton County of Virginia, bringing to Rogers his interests in health care disparities, racial discrimination, cultural identity, and race, equity, and inclusion. Working in the Child Adolescent Unit, he is excited to work with patients from different backgrounds. In his future career, Marcus hopes to make connections between hospitals, universities, and communities to help bridge the gaps in mental health knowledge, education, and care.

Callie Miller

Callie Miller: Callie is from Hudson Wisconsin, excited to start the internship in her home state! She is particularly interested in family dynamics, childhood experiences, and anxiety and depression. She is excited for hands-on learning in the hospital setting, looking forward to working in the field, giving back, and pushing research forward. Callie will work on Rogers’ Inpatient Child Adolescent Unit.

Laina Nelson

Laina Nelson: From Lake Park, Minnesota, Laina Nelson is interested in advocacy and clinical work within eating disorder care. An athlete herself, Laina hopes to bridge the gap in access to treatment, particularly with athletes, those with orthorexia nervosa, and those in rural areas. Laina will work in Eating Disorder Recovery Care at Rogers.

Guadalupe San Miguel

Guadalupe San Miguel: From Houston, Texas, Guadalupe is interested in OCD and anxiety disorders, as well as hearing aid adherence, insomnia, misophonia, and ACT. He is excited to work in a hospital setting on the OCD track, hoping to eventually work in a hospital long-term.
