Culinary comradery: Kubly warms up winter with third annual Soup Off

It’s where creativity, community, and culinary skills meet: Kubly team members recently competed in their third annual Soup Off, bringing comfort and warmth to the winter months.

“We have a lot of excellent cooks and creative thinkers who appreciate not just the culinary arts but the comradery sharing food can bring,” says Lacie Timm, experiential therapist II. “Folks here find great joy in seeing what new and exciting types of soups are brought in each week, with recipes originating from all over the world.”

Organized by the Kubly Care Committee, this year’s competition included 12 participants and one soup a week. Team members voted on presentation, aroma, taste, originality, and use of ingredients.

This year’s winners are:

1st place- Jackie Loomis with Potato Bacon Soup

2nd place- Amy Bork with Stuffed Pepper Soup

3rd place- Lacie Timm with Hobbit’s Harvest Soup

“The Soup Off is community building,” says Tricia Mann, manager of Residential Operations, Depression Recovery Adult “It provides a fun and creative competition, and it helps our staff take care of each other. Winter is rough for so many, and this work can be challenging on the best days. Mid-week soup gives us an opportunity to be warm and comforted as a team.”
