Since Rogers’ Intake & Screening Assistant Limbic joined our website over the winter, the AI chatbot has screened more than 800 people, many of whom describe the process as easy, efficient, and convenient.
Limbic provides an alternative route to screening in addition to traditional options. Using clinically validated tools, the AI assistant can chat with prospective patients, allowing them to describe their concerns in their own words.
Since its rollout, feedback about Limbic has been overwhelmingly positive, with comments from users noting appreciation of the assistant’s availability, thoroughness, and immediate attention. One person wrote that they are appreciative of what they called the “nonjudgmental friend,” another said it was “easy to gather thoughts this way,” and one more commented that they were “feeling heard immediately.”
“Talking to (Limbic) this way allowed me to focus and open up about problems in my life, whereas if I were on the phone answering these questions, I would have avoided some of the answers and blown off the severity of my problems,” one website visitor noted.
“I appreciated the quick responses, clearly worded questions, and variety of options,” another wrote. “I felt calmed by the gentle, supportive, and encouraging language of the bot. Thank you :)”
Research indicates Limbic can increase the likelihood of individuals seeking care, especially historically marginalized groups. So far, Limbic has led to about 150 patient admissions across all levels of Rogers’ care.
“I am very pleased with how successful Limbic has already proven itself in increasing access to mental health services,” says Signa Meyers, LPC, ICS, vice president of strategic initiatives. “Additionally, seeing the user feedback reinforces why it’s so important to provide another safe, convenient option like this for those taking the courageous first step toward seeking treatment.”
The use of Limbic will continue to evolve and expand. Soon, the AI assistant will be used for overflow when the Admissions department is not able to pick up a phone call, allowing us to start gathering information right away.
