System is first in Wisconsin to earn ASAM Level of Care Certification

Oconomowoc, WI, November 14, 2023-- The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), in partnership with the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), has awarded Rogers Behavioral Health the Level of Care Certification™. This prestigious certification process is an independent assessment verifying that substance use treatment providers meet The ASAM Criteria®, strict national standards for results-based, patient-centered substance use treatment.

“Achieving this certification from ASAM demonstrates that Rogers Behavioral Health is committed to serving our substance use patients, families, and communities with evidence-based addiction treatment,” says Dr. Michelle Maloney, system executive clinical director of Addiction Services. “Individualized care is critical to overcoming the devastating and deadly challenges of addiction.”

Rogers was specifically recognized for excellence in residential and inpatient services for adults. The certification is effective for three years.

“I am so proud of our amazing team’s dedication to treating patients with dignity, respect, and in a way that is free of stigma,” says Dr. Maloney. “To be the first organization in the state of Wisconsin to earn this recognition is particularly gratifying. This certification allows us to continue raising the bar when it comes to substance use treatment.”

Substance use is increasingly recognized as an epidemic in the United States, with recent statistics from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) showing that 46.3 million Americans aged 12 and older met the criteria for a substance use disorder in 2021. More than ever before, there is an urgent need for effective treatment.

Rogers was also recently recognized by Shatterproof, an important community resource that recommends high-quality substance use treatment to individuals nationwide. Shatterproof is an independent organization that reviews data from treatment providers, with the highest quality organizations earning a listing on TreatmentAtlas.org.

“These recognitions verify that our patients, referring providers, and members of our community can trust us to provide the evidence-based substance use treatment that they need and deserve,” says Cindy Meyer, MSSW, president and CEO at Rogers. “We look forward to increasing awareness that high-quality help is available.”
