Supported by advocacy organizations such as Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), National Recovery Month is held every September “to promote and support new evidence-based treatment and recovery practices, the nation’s strong and proud recovery community, and the dedication of service providers and communities who make recovery in all its forms possible,” SAMHSA says.

Several teams at Rogers participated in various activities throughout the month to celebrate the work we do every day and the hope we instill.

Herrington Center for Mental Health and Addiction Recovery

The team in Oconomowoc kicked off Recovery Month with a gathering of staff, patients, and alumni to talk about recovery and enjoy some cake. The program had spirit week for staff and patients along with treats throughout the month.

Kenosha

Patients and team members participated in two group room projects at our Kenosha clinic for Recovery Month.

Patients colored pictures of irises which are one of the flowers that symbolize recovery. They also added a recovery word, quote or motto to their pictures. All the creations were hung up on their group room door.

Team members and patients planted mums in their outdoor space in an existing planter. Mums are perennials that bloom around September and again will serve as a reminder of Recovery Month for years to come.

“We are very proud of our patients and program in our quest to increase awareness, decrease stigma, and honor recovery journeys!”

Spirit Week kickoff

Rogers kicked off Recovery Month in the first week of September with some fun dress up days, including comfy & cozy day, flannel day, team spirit day, and wear purple day.

Recovery Bingo

All patients at each location were given a bingo card to work on throughout the month. When a patient obtained BINGO, they were awarded a small token of recognition from their treatment team.

Express your gratitude: Window decorating contest

Each location was provided with window markers, while the Telehealth team got creative, as each site was asked to develop a reflection of gratitude piece of art. Pictures of the decorated windows were submitted for voting for a chance for two locations to win a prize.
