Rogers presents first-ever TULIP Awards for outstanding individuals

06/27/24 01:30:pm

This month Rogers celebrated our first three winners of the TULIP Award, which recognizes individuals who make a distinct difference for our patients and their loved ones. TULIP stands for Thoughtful, Unforgettable, Lasting Impact on a Patient. While the DAISY Award honors nurses, the TULIP Award gives us the chance to celebrate the many other compassionate and skilled clinical roles at the heart of our treatment.

Robert Gordon 2.JPGIn early June, our first TULIP Award presentation recognized winner Robert Gordon, a therapist in San Diego. A patient nominated him, saying she believes the care at Rogers saved her life, and Robert played a large role in that.

“Robert was a steadfast source of support, hope, and perspective. I always felt like he heard me and genuinely cared about me,” the patient wrote in her nomination. “He helped me through the darkest period of my life. I feel so much more like myself and feel optimistic and hopeful in a way I never thought I would be able to again. Thank you to Rogers, and especially to Robert.”

Please download the award presentation slides to view the list of nominees and read Robert’s full nomination, along with the nominations of the honorable mentions.

Another winner, John Brazill, a therapist in Tampa, received his TULIP Award after being nominated by a patient who said John changed his life.

His deeply rooted desire to help people is evident and genuine,” the patient wrote. “I believe people come into our lives for a reason. The universe put John in mine to save my life.”

A June 18 ceremony honored TULIP Award winner Stacey Strobl, a mental health technician for Trauma Stacey Strobl.jpgRecovery, adult residential care in Oconomowoc.

Stacey was nominated twice by Rogers employees, who wrote she “is a great asset to the unit” and always puts in “1000%.” One of the nominations says residents describe Stacey as “always going above and beyond, extremely competent and compassionate” and as “someone who really cares about what she does.”

She was also described as “the calm before the storm, always consistently there to help manage any difficult situation or challenging dynamic with competency, compassion, and grace” by fellow mental health technicians.

The nominations for Stacey and all of the honorable mentions can be found here, along with the complete list of nominees. You can also watch the video for this award presentation.

Nearly 70 Rogers employees have been nominated since the launch of the award last fall. Each nominee received a recognition letter from Cindy, a tulip pin, and a copy of their nomination. Congratulations to all of our nominees, honorable mentions, and winners!

“I don’t know that there’s a thank you big enough for your compassion and the passion you have in serving patients and making a difference in their lives,” said Cindy Meyer, president and CEO. “Trained as a social worker, I applaud all of you for the work you’ve done. I look forward to having you be part of this organization for a long time.”

Compassionate and skilled mental health technicians (MHTs), therapists and experiential therapists, behavioral specialists (BSs), dietitians, educational specialists, milieu specialists, and Admissions intake specialists are eligible for the quarterly TULIP Award. Learn more and nominate an employee here. Moving forward, one winner will be celebrated each quarter, and the next presentation will be held this fall.
