Liz Komp, a registered nurse in Oconomowoc, was presented with Rogers’ first-ever DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Check out the video below of the September 20 recognition event held in Oconomowoc and shown live on Teams.

DAISY.jpgLiz, who works in Eating Disorder Recovery child and adolescent inpatient care, was nominated by a patient who described her as a hero. “She gave me the skill and lessons to get me where I am in my recovery today,” the patient wrote. “I will forever be grateful for her caring, empathetic, and understanding heart.”

“I can’t thank you enough for how you have impacted this individual’s life,” said Terri Cohn, chief nursing officer, who presented Liz with a “Healer’s Touch” sculpture, certificate, and lapel pin. “I also want to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the nurses who are with Rogers. These are really important stories for us to celebrate, particularly during some challenging times. Take the time to be that extra courteous nurse and listen to what our customers are saying and please share the stories.”

“It really takes a whole team of us,” Liz said. “I always appreciate everyone’s positive attitude and working together to make a difference in our patients’ lives.”

Nearly 60 Rogers nurses have been nominated since the program launched in June. Each nominee received a certificate, a handwritten note from Terri, a lapel pin, and a copy of the nomination.

Please download the award presentation slides to view the list of nominees and read Liz's nomination.

Nurses are nominated by anyone who experiences or observes extraordinary compassionate care: current and former patients, family members, fellow nurses, physicians, clinicians, and other employees.

Winners will be selected throughout the year by an internal Rogers committee and celebrated at their respective locations. Their families are invited to attend along with the nominator and senior leaders.

The next round of nominations is open now, with the second award celebration in December. Nominations, including a detailed account of why the nurse is deserving of the honor, may be submitted at rogersbh.org/DAISY.

Rogers is among more than 5,000 healthcare organizations and schools of nursing worldwide that are committed to honoring exemplary nurses through The DAISY Award program.
