Rogers art therapist takes first place in iaedp mannequin body image contest

every brilliant thing (2).jpgRogers and art therapist Lacie Timm, MA/AT, have once again won first place in the iaedp Imagine Me Beyond What You See mannequin body image contest.

Our first-place entry, titled “Boys in Dresses” was submitted by Lacie and representing our Focus Depression Recovery Adult Residential Care.

For a few years running, Rogers has received an award in the contest, including a Professional’s Choice award last year for “Brick by Brick” and another first-place for “Back to Basics”—a living sculpture of herbs, moss, and other materials that won in 2017.

“I feel grateful and excited to have won First Place this year,” Lacie shares. “I think it was beneficial that the aesthetic really stood out from the other entries via manipulated metal. Every year I like to enter a piece that has materials and concepts that feel fresh compared to previous years. Developing an original concept is part of the appeal to continue entering a new piece each year. I have a couple concepts and mediums in mind for the 2020 entry, but I still need to solidify a game plan. I’m toying around with concepts of brewing (think tea pot) or bountiful harvest (think horn of plenty).”

Lacie received the award and a large poster displaying the mannequin, following the iaedp’s annual symposium in February, where the winners were announced.
