On Father’s Day, families visiting the Ronald McDonald Family Room at the Ladish Co. Foundation Center in Oconomowoc were welcomed with special decorations and treats. Fathers enjoyed movie passes, popcorn, and candy, Father’s Day arts and crafts, donuts from Kwik Trip, and pizza from Domino’s. They also entered their names for a chance to win one of three free raffle prizes of a 32” convertible foosball soccer table, a light-up bean bag toss, or a bundle of games.

Guests share their appreciation

Dad you are the best sign.jpg“This was our 3rd visit to the Family Room and everyone, every time has been extremely friendly, supportive, helpful, and absolutely wonderful. Our daughter wasn’t allowed to travel off campus yet, so the Family Room provided the perfect place for us to relax and enjoy a visit with her. The Family Room is an invaluable resource for families with people staying at Rogers. It made our trip here so much easier and enjoyable. I cannot express our gratitude to the people and facility enough. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

“There are things to do in Oconomowoc, but none are as convenient or as accommodating as the Family Room. It gave us an easy way to feel like we were out of the hospital and in a comfortable and comforting spot. The Family Room’s kitchen allowed us to take our first baby steps in the direction of normal eating for our family. It is hard to emphasize how helpful the Family Room was as a refuge from the hospital environment and later, as a bridge to getting our daughter back home. Thank you!”

“This is our favorite place as mother/daughter to reconnect and provide support for our daughter. We’ve met several other families and it’s comforting to know we are not alone. We didn’t realize how many people travel so far to receive good mental health care. We have played a lot of board games in the Family Room and the arts & crafts provided a well-needed distraction. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Recently we played a game called Hygge, which included cards with 3 prompts/reflection questions. My daughter and I had fun learning about each other and sharing stories from our childhoods. We are very appreciative of Rogers, the Ladish Center, and the Ronald McDonald Family Room. Thank you!!!"
