‘I have a lot more love for myself’: Former West Allis OCD and Anxiety patient shares how her treatment team changed her life
12/05/24 12:00:pmBlythe says after more than a decade of struggling, her outpatient treatment team gave her the skills to manage her anxiety.
“I came to Rogers at my absolute lowest. I’ve experienced anxiety for over 12 years, and after years of trying to ‘fix’ it or distract myself from the bad feelings, nothing ever changed. The program and team at Rogers helped tremendously in ways that I wasn’t even expecting. I am more confident in my ability to manage my anxiety, I learned so many skills to help get through hard times, and I have a lot more love for myself. I continue working on myself and healing every day, but that’s all been possible thanks to everything I learned in my program. I haven’t felt this good in a long time.”
Her treatment team members responded:
“This message really reminds me that the work we are doing is valuable and can impact people more than we even expect and know at times. Blythe was very insightful and was very willing to challenge herself even though the work we were doing was uncomfortable. Her willingness to be committed to her treatment definitely played a big role in how well she did! Because of the questions she asked, such as, “What is the difference between intuition and anxiety?” I was able to think of anxiety in new ways and work on explaining it differently as well, which helped me to be a better therapist overall.” ~ Allison Friske, therapist
“It's great to hear about Blythe’s success. She had a strong desire to get better throughout her stay. It was contagious to peers around her.” ~ Colleen Naegele, therapist
