Board member Michael Sevi explains the importance of compliance, integrity
08/10/22 10:50:amDuring years of public service in his home state of Florida, Michael Sevi felt the satisfaction of serving an organization with a mission he believes in.
Years later, when he was asked to join the Rogers Behavioral Health Board of Directors, he knew the opportunity was right.
“As a Rogers board member, I have the privilege of using my background, experience, and training to support an organization that saves lives,” Michael says. “I’m incredibly proud of the work Rogers does and grateful to serve such an amazing organization.”
Joining the board in 2021, Michael now chairs the Audit and Compliance Committee and sits on the Governance and Nominating Committee.
“Among other things, our Audit and Compliance Committee promotes a culture of integrity within Rogers and ensures people feel safe speaking up when something doesn’t feel right,” explains Michael, who is the general counsel and chief compliance officer of reinsurance brokerage Guy Carpenter & Company.
One of the ways Rogers is working to enhance its strong culture of integrity is through the new Compliance and Ethics Helpline that launched in June. Led by the system Compliance team, the independent, third-party managed helpline provides individuals with a confidential way to report a concern or ask a question.
“Rogers’ services are highly regulated, and we operate in partnership with governments across the country,” Michael says. “We must constantly reinforce our strong culture of integrity because Rogers’ most valuable asset is its reputation. Each of us has an obligation to protect it. And we do that by speaking up. No one should ever fear negative consequences for raising a concern in good faith.”

In addition to leveraging his skillsets for Rogers, Michael enjoys his role as a board member because of the education it has provided in behavioral health, especially OCD, addiction, and eating disorders.
“I thank everyone at Rogers for the work that they do,” Michael says. “We are saving lives and saving families. It’s a great feeling to play a small part in the important services we deliver.”
