Appleton adds adolescent programs

For the first time since its opening in 2015, Rogers’ Appleton clinic is offering partial hospitalization programs for adolescents.

The Mental Health Recovery adolescent PHP and the Mental Health and Addiction Recovery adolescent PHP opened to patients on September 5.

Megan Dircz, director of operations in Appleton, says the team is excited about the program changes.

“We’ve been wanting to open adolescent PHPs for at least four years, but that’s been a challenge because of physical space limitations,” explains Megan. “We were able to make it work by closing our intensive outpatient programs for adolescents and starting PHPs with group-based programs.”

Megan is proud the clinic will be able to meet the demand for a higher level of care.

“There’s one other PHP option for adolescents in our community,” she says. “We’ve been hearing from a lot of our community members that we need to open a PHP. We’ve also seen an increase in acuity with our child and adolescent population, so we decided we would be better able to serve our community by offering the PHPs in place of the IOPs.”
