Diane Murley, intake specialist-pool
As long as I can remember I wanted to work in mental health. When I thought about what I wanted to be when I grew up, I felt drawn to want to work with people that were sick in a way that wasn’t understood by the masses. I wanted to help be the voice to advocate that people need help in ways that we can’t always see or run diagnostic test to determine. This field has always been my passion and our patients reinforce that for me all of the time. What I didn’t realize when I wanted to get into mental health was all of the amazing people I would get to meet and work with. This field draws the most caring people. My colleagues and our patients are a constant reminder that I am where I belong.
Morgan Gruszynski, RN, Focus depression recovery adolescent
I chose to become a registered nurse at Rogers because I believe that life is worth living. I believe every human being deserves a second chance to create a better life for themselves. I absolutely love the mission and morale behind everything we do here at Rogers. I have never been so involved in a program that revolves around the patient as much as I have seen here. When I first became a nurse, I wanted to establish myself in a position where the focus was on the patient. I wanted a personal approach where I could get to know the patient, work with the patient day in and day out, and feel like I have done something to make a difference in the patient’s life. I have never before felt like I’ve made such a difference in so many lives, until I came to Rogers. I feel that when my patients are discharged, I know that they have learned the skills they need to move forward in their everyday lives. My position here at Rogers is something I have always dreamed of, and I am so proud to be a part of this amazing organization.
Ashley Sewell, PHP clinic assistant
I am a clinic assistant here at Rogers’ Brown Deer clinic. As a kid I always wanted to work in the medical field. I loved watching ER with my mom because the doctors and other staff where helping people and saving lives. Growing up I learned that I could study different parts of medicine and soon found out about psychology classes in college. It was then that I realized I truly enjoyed learning about the mental health field.
What interested me the most was that it focused more on helping people think and process things rather than helping people physically. I was able to relate to this because I realized down the line that I suffered from some mental illness after my mother’s passing at age 14. By going to therapy I was able to better cope with my lose in a positive way and share these skills with my family and friends.
