As a way to connect and show gratitude, West Allis and Brown Deer PHP and IOP leadership recently hosted an employee appreciation event at the Iron Horse Hotel in Milwaukee, which included dinner and late-night snacks, an hour-long Comedy Sportz show, prizes for teammates to win, and a photo booth to capture the fun of the night.

Leadership put the event together based on feedback from team members that they were feeling disconnected from each other.

“We were looking for a way to do something really nice to appreciate the staff, and help them to build connections,” says Jessica Pitre, senior director of operations, outpatient services, Brown Deer and West Allis. “The event was held as a thank you to the teams and as an opportunity for people to get to know each other on a more personal level.”

Everyone who RSVP’d to the event was assigned a number which was placed in an app to select prize winners. Prizes included several different types of gift baskets, along with a variety of gift cards.

Jessica says everyone who attended was engaged and gave positive feedback.

“Many of us had the opportunity to introduce ourselves to others or meet some people in real life that we’d only met virtually,” says Matthew Grochowski, therapist, Brown Deer. “Everyone had a really good time. I would love more opportunities for colleagues to get together in a non-work environment.”

“It truly goes a long way when we can do this kind of thing for our staff,” she says. “They really appreciated being seen, which is something that Rogers values. A special shout out needs to go to Sarah Siker, operations manager, Brown Deer, who put a lot of time and effort the planning this event, as well as Latika Washington, operations manager, West Allis, and Cathy Tao, operations manager, Brown Deer. All of them worked hard to make the night a success.”
