Talent Development announces behavioral specialist preceptor program
03/21/19 09:20:amOver the past year, we have strived to improve the training experience for our Behavioral Specialists (BS) through continuous improvement initiatives. This has included numerous projects through the Rogers Improvement System that have resulted in updates to the BS hiring processes, CBT training attendance and tracking methods, and means of tracking training. As an outcome of these projects, we are pleased to announce the launch of a comprehensive BS Preceptor program.
A formalized BS Preceptor program allows better continuity of learning after completion of CBT Academy as well as greater opportunity for tracking new hire progress as a means of developing individualized learning plans. This incentivized program will also allow BS preceptors to be better equipped to guide new hires in their training shifts as well as the organization to recognize their investment in new hire development. This helps to ensure consistency and quality of the BS new hire training experience, a gap identified through the RIS project.
A formalized BS preceptor program also provides an opportunity for growth and professional development for our experienced BS’s within the system. BS preceptors are nominated by their managers and clinical supervisors based upon their qualifications. Once nominated, the preceptors complete a comprehensive training course that provides them with tools to enhance their training role through new hire socialization, modeling, learning facilitation, and evaluation. Further, the course has been made available in both face-to-face and virtual formats to ensure inclusion from our regional locations.
Beginning April 1, all BS new hires will be assigned solely to designated BS preceptors throughout the system. For further questions on this program, please contact Talent Development at (414) 539-3060 or talentdevelopment@rogershospital.org.
