Rogers joins Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce

01/18/22 03:05:pm

LGBTQchamber_tn.jpgRogers recently became a member of the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce, joining nearly 700 businesses and organizations working toward creating a fully inclusive state. The mission of the Chamber and its members is to promote economic growth and opportunities among LGBT-owned and allied businesses, corporations, and professionals.

"In order to provide the most effective treatment possible for our patients and their families, it’s important that employees feel supported and encouraged each day,” said Karen Nelson, Rogers' director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, in the announcement. “That’s why Rogers strives to create a healthy culture where patients and employees can grow and feel welcome, safe, and respected.”

As the field of behavioral health has historically stigmatized the LGBTQIA+ community, Karen says it is imperative for Rogers to pave a path as an affirming organization while holding ourselves accountable and continuously improving our care for all those we serve.

“We are proud to be a member of the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber and to work together to build a more welcoming and inclusive community for all in Wisconsin and across the country,” she said.

As one of 50 gold members of the Chamber, Rogers is listed in its online business directory, invited to all events, and has a seat on the Chamber’s Leadership Council.

“We are truly thankful to Rogers Behavioral Health for all they do to be supportive of the LGBTQ community, and we look forward to building a strong partnership together,” said Jason Rae, president and CEO of the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce, in the announcement. “Rogers’ commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is a model for other organizations providing mental health and addiction services to the LGBTQ community.”

The initiative to join the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber was led by Marketing and Communications. Rogers plans to become members of other local LGBT chambers in communities we serve as well as the national LGBT chamber.
