Rogers addiction specialist wins 2018 Addis Costello award
09/19/18 06:09:pmThe Wisconsin Chapter of the American College of Physician’s has awarded the 2018 Addis Costello award to our own Nameeta Dookeran, MD, MSc, addiction specialist at Rogers–Oconomowoc.
Dr. Dookeran is a member of the Wisconsin’s Governor’s Task Force on Opioid Abuse and a member of the Wisconsin Medical Society’s Task Force on Opioid Abuse. She’s helped write policies that remove barriers to medicated assisted treatment programs in Wisconsin, and has helped improve the functioning of Wisconsin’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program.
The Addis Costello Award is given out each year in honor of the legacy of Dr. Addis Costello, a Milwaukee physician who worked to address the socioeconomic barriers to healthcare. Dr. Dookeran received the award based on her work to increase addiction treatment and recovery services to vulnerable populations.
Dr. Dookeran had this to say about receiving the award:
