‘No one has to face their struggles alone’: Rogers teammates come together for OCD Awareness Week
11/07/24 01:00:pmShining a light on a disorder that is often misunderstood, Rogers teammates did their part during OCD Awareness Week, dressing up, helping raise funds, and opening the door to treatment.
Philadelphia
As part of OCD Awareness Week Oct. 13-19, the OCD and Anxiety team in Philadelphia decorated their clinic and wore “Support Squad” shirts.
Clinical supervisor Beth Reeder, PhD says supporting the cause is a passion of hers.
“OCD Awareness Week is a time to shed light on an often-misunderstood disorder, inspiring empathy, fostering education, and empowering those affected by OCD,” Beth says. “By raising awareness, we work to dismantle the shame and isolation many with OCD feel, opening doors to community and connection. When we come together to share stories, educate, and support one another, we build a stronger, more inclusive society where no one has to face their struggles alone.”
Team Rogers got into the spirit of OCD Awareness Week on social media, too! The social media post featuring those Philadelphia photos garnered engagement more than 8 times higher than the healthcare industry average and reached nearly 5,000 people. Along with that post, Rogers also shared helpful information about OCD, resources, and patient stories on social media platforms throughout the week. Submitting team photos to photos@rogersbh.org is a great way to feature your Rogers location and spread awareness of the life-saving work we do at Rogers.
Los Angeles
Continuing the support across the country, Team LA recognized the week, as well. Check out pictures of their spirit week, including PJ day!
Seattle
In Washington, Rogers team members joined in on the Seattle One Million Steps for OCD Walk, a community advocacy event that surpassed their goal of raising $5,000. That money goes toward supporting those impacted by OCD and related disorders. Also pictured is Dr. Andrea Hartman’s kiddo, showing it’s never too early to support the cause!
