American Academy of Nursing Induction Oct 9 21 MML.jpeg.jpgMartha Libster, PhD, the director of Nursing Academic Partnership Design, has been inducted into the American Academy of Nursing.

Dr. Libster is one of 225 distinguished nurse leaders who were inducted during the Academy’s Health Policy Conference earlier this month. It was held in-person in Washington, D.C., and broadcast virtually. A recording is available.

“The Academy aims to improve health and achieve health equity through nursing leadership, innovation, and science,” said Academy President Eileen Sullivan-Marx, PhD. “The Academy’s Fellows embody our values of equity, diversity and inclusivity, inquiry, integrity, and courage, which enable us to achieve new heights of impact that advance health policy across the globe.”

Dr. Libster has 22 years’ experience as an advanced practice psychiatric mental health clinical nurse specialist, and currently oversees design and program management of Rogers’ Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program with Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) School of Nursing. She is also an adjunct professor of nursing at MSOE.

Entrance into the Academy is by nomination and selection by the Fellow Selection Committee, which reviewed hundreds of applications to choose the 2021 Fellows based on their contributions to advance the public’s health. Induction into the Academy is a significant milestone in a nurse leader’s career, in which their accomplishments are honored by their colleagues within and outside the profession.

With this induction, Dr. Libster is among approximately 2,900 Fellows who are nursing leaders in education, administration, practice, and research. Invitation to Fellowship is a significant recognition of accomplishments within the nursing profession.

“It is a tremendous honor to join the Academy of Nursing at this time in American history,” says Dr. Libster.
