Advancing Rogers’ goals toward equity

09/28/20 11:36:am

equity.jpgEmployees across all Rogers’ sites worked together in the last three months to identify goals and potential solutions for becoming a more equitable workplace, which has already resulted in a few changes.

The Equity workgroup is led by Sue Dicks, MA, vice president, Healthy Culture, who says that the group is now transitioning to a structure to best support the specific work going forward. This means that representatives from the workgroup and department leaders will convene five vertical value streams to look at equality, diversity, and inclusion in human resources, talent development, marketing and outreach, patient access, and patient care.

In addition, Sue says that Rogers will be hiring a Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. The position is currently posted internally.

Some of the group’s wins include the addition of a floating holiday, pronouns in email signatures, and badge stickers for people to display pronouns to patients and co-workers. Various equity, diversity, and inclusion topics are also now offered through the Rogers Learning and Performance portal for Rogers credits, with more to come. The $15 minimum hourly wage is another big positive, and was even in the works before the targeted equity work began.

Updates and information on the Equity group can be found by visiting its page on the intranet, which houses a variety of resources for team members, updates, and definitions.

A previous article in Insight announced the creation of a LGBTQ+ workgroup that had been working for months behind the scenes at Rogers. This has now been integrated with the equity work. Sue says that Rogers team members can expect to hear more in the coming months.
