Rogers participates in early NAMI Walks, related mental health walks and events
06/20/18 03:16:pmIt’s NAMI Walk season! Now that fair weather has returned, thousands across the US will participate in NAMI Walks and similar walks for mental health awareness from spring to fall.
So far, Team Rogers has shown up for the 2018 Greater Milwaukee NAMI Walk, Oshkosh 5K Run/Walk for Mental Health and Suicide Awareness, Autism Speaks Walk in Tampa, and the 1 Million Steps 4 OCD walks in Chicago, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, and the Bay Area.
At the Milwaukee event on May 19 in Veterans Park, Rogers team members helped raise more than $2,500, contributing to the $170,000+ total for the walk. Funds go toward mental health awareness, education, and advocacy.
“Rogers employees really care about taking care of mental health with our jobs as well as in the community,” says Tama’ra Reed, Rogers–Oconomowoc team captain for NAMI Walks. “Our commitment to mental health is that our job is not just a job—it’s our life.”
Rogers has also shown support for a number of other events helping to raise awareness, such sponsoring the Jump for Archie: Jump for Prevention event in Oconomowoc. This event helped to promote mental health and wellness and sought to prevent drinking and drug misuse in teens.
The next round of NAMI Walks near Rogers locations will be held in September in Waukesha and Green Bay; Minneapolis; San Jose and Anaheim, CA; Evanston, IL; and Ft. Myers. Those interested in participating in a future NAMI Walk can find a full list of dates and locations on Rogers Connect.
“Come and join us for a fun gathering to meet new people and create a new bond with your co-workers,” Tama’ra says.
