Oconomowoc campus-wide competition yields sizable donation to local humane society
08/15/23 01:00:pmDuring the month of June, residential and inpatient teams joined with every department on the Oconomowoc campus for a friendly competition.
“June 4 through 10 is Pet Appreciation Week, so we decided on a donation drive for the local Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS),” says Jenna Ramljak, manager of residential operations for Focus Depression Recovery adolescent care and OCD, Anxiety, and Depression adolescent residential care. “A lot of our experiential therapists take patients to HAWS and we’ve partnered with them in the past. We extended the contest to the entire month so we had extra time to collect items they need.”
Along with other managers, Jenna offered the incentive of a pizza party for the team that collected the most.
At the end of the month, nearly 500 items were donated, including distilled water, cat and dog food, toys, blankets, and treats.
The float team comprised of residential therapists and behavior specialists won and they’re anticipating their food party.
“HAWS was very excited, thankful, and just wowed by how much we were able to donate,” says Jenna. “I, along with many of my teammates, have a soft spot for animals. Everyone was happy to participate and since HAWS is local it was easy to coordinate. We do so much for other people and there are other ways, like this donation drive, that we can help our community.”
