The new West Allis clinic is open, offering an improved environment and bright outlook for Rogers’ patients and team members.

“It’s been a long time coming,” says Betsy Borst, psychiatric nurse practitioner, who has worked for Rogers long enough to remember when intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs (IOP and PHP) programs were based at the main West Allis hospital. “To actually walk in the doors this morning knowing this is the new space, here we are, it felt really great.”

Opening officially to patients January 15, the clinic offers IOP and PHP for OCD and Anxiety, Depression Recovery, Trauma Recovery, and Mental Health and Addiction Recovery. It combines services for children and adolescents as well as adults in the same building on different floors.

Previously, two separate West Allis locations provided the services for the different age groups. Located between the two former clinics, the new building that Rogers purchased sits at 2424 S. 102nd Street.

“When I first came over here and toured it, what I kept thinking about was just how much happier our staff and our patients are going to be in this space,” Betsy says, pointing to more physical space and additions such as a cafeteria, exposure therapy rooms and an art room. “I really, truly feel like our teams, our staff, and our patients are going to thrive.”

“I love that my office is located within the program, and I can say hi to my kids when they walk past my door,” she says. “Watching them transition into the new space and get a feel for it was just really great to see.”

The new clinic will also offer in-person psychiatric outpatient care and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) later this month, something Loren Tanner, director of operational development, says will be great for the continuum of care in West Allis.

“The team did an excellent job at overcoming the numerous obstacles this project threw at us, from merging the two existing clinics, adding space for a new and exciting level of care, and moving during the storm this last weekend,” Loren says. “I want to take a moment and celebrate all the hard work that has gotten us this far.”

“I’m really proud of all my teammates here,” Betsy says. “They really, really did amazing things making this move.”

Despite the subzero windchill temperatures outside on opening day, Betsy says the new environment indoors already offers plenty of warmth.

“It’s brightly lighted and clean,” she says. “Over the longer term, I think the coolest thing will be having more space and resources to really improve patient care.”

An open house for referring providers is planned at the building February 6.
