Michelle Kalz brings lifelong passion for connecting patients with care to Outreach team
05/21/21 11:45:amDriving through Rogers Behavioral Health’s Oconomowoc campus in the fall of 2019, Michelle Kalz knew that this was where she wanted to be. Unbeknownst to her at the time, in a few short months Michelle would join the Rogers team as director of business development.
This first drive through the campus came during a family road trip from their home in St. Louis, Missouri to Canada and back through the Great Lakes region with a stop in Milwaukee.
“I told my family we had to go check out Rogers, just so I could see it,” explains Michelle. “We drove to Oconomowoc and checked out the beautiful campus. It was a destination stop for me in the same way tourists have to stop to see the Gateway Arch in St. Louis!”
Describing working for Rogers as “a dream job,” Michelle has spent her career in the industry, working for other behavioral health organizations prior to joining Rogers. At these organizations, her roles included working in intake, where she conducted patient screenings, and in utilization review. She also served as an outreach representative and later as a manager.
As director of business development, she oversees the Outreach team and develops strategies to help referring providers refer to Rogers and ultimately connect people to care.
“I’m very passionate about Rogers and our patients,” Michelle says. “If anyone is ever curious about what the Outreach team does, I love to share what we do and everything that goes into our important work.”
One of Michelle’s favorite parts about her role at Rogers is working with a team to connect patients to care.
“I love leading people and helping them develop professionally to best serve our patients and providers,” she says. “It’s always emotional to see the patient story videos our digital media team puts together because they show each patient’s unique experience at Rogers and how we were able to help them reach their potential.”
Michelle is also heavily involved in the Rogers Operating System, having participated in 12 events in just over a year and with more events on the horizon.
“This is the first behavioral health company I’ve worked for that has something like the Rogers Operating System,” she says. “The whole process is exciting, and it’s nice to be able to bring my experiences to each event to help question processes and come up with effective solutions.”
